BoxPlay – Platform

Launching a new multimedia learning platform with the team at BoxPlay.

A broad and ranging project to launch a new e-learning platform, working across the design system, content design, UX & UI, content population and animation.

I spent just over 6 months at BoxPlay getting hands-on & working with the team to launch their brand new product.

Design System

A big part of the project was the design system that anchored the entire user experience and provided a foundation for how the UI would scale and flex across devices.

It was comprehensive, featuring multiple type scales, colour modes and was all set up in Figma components for use.

User Experience and Interaction

Working in mini sprints we took content needs and developed solutions, using the design system to structure the work. This helped us translate lesson content to devise a flexible system for delivering a variety of course content in engaging and stimulating ways.

Content design

Following this we then begun designing up individual courses, working from the library of structural components. Each course had its own visual language, colour scheme and required a vast array of assets to be created.

The art direction was irreverent and varied, with collages of illustrations, photography, hand-drawn elements and course assets used to communicate a range of complex and esoteric subjects.

Platform design

The platform itself was inspired by modern streaming platforms with a focus on keeping users engaged. A personalised experience with thematic subject channels that bring together courses, reinforcement content and a feed of updates.

Featuring a flexible playlist approach for navigating courses, with clear progress markers, modules and content designed to match micro-learning principles.

Platform Demo

Once the platform was finished and in testing with a condensed user group to fine tune and finesse the learning experience I worked on launching it to the world, creating and animating a demo of some of the key features.
